Snowflakes, Snow Cones, and Jesus: Created on Purpose
Jan 12, 2026
Growing up in Michigan, winter meant snowstorms so big the world stopped — school closed, the neighborhood kids disappeared into the drifts, and suddenly everyone became an expert builder of snow caves, forts, and questionable sled ramps. Snow days felt like magic, like God hit the “pause” button on the world just so we could play.
Now I live in Southern California, where we experience January a little differently. Instead of snowflakes, we have snowcones — bright, sweet reminders that winter doesn’t look the same everywhere.
But here’s what amazes me:
Whether it’s a blizzard in Michigan or shaved ice under the SoCal sun, both have a way of pointing me back to Jesus.
Snowflakes preach uniqueness.
Every single one is distinct. No repeats. No copies. No duplicates drifting from the sky.
Snowcones preach delight.
Color, sweetness, joy — a reminder that life with God isn’t meant to be bland.
And Jesus brings the message home:
“We are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.” Ephesians 2:10
Just like every snowflake, you are crafted with breathtaking intentionality.
Just like every snowcone, your life is meant to reflect God’s joy and creativity.
Your design is not an accident.
Your placement is not random.
Your purpose is not small.
You are uniquely shaped — and intentionally sent — into the world to reflect Him in a way no one else can.
Faith Habit of the Week: The “Masterpiece Mirror”
Each morning this week, put a small note on your bathroom mirror that says:
“Created on purpose.”
Every time you see it, let it nudge you to live like someone God handcrafted with intention.
Let it shift your posture, your confidence, and your awareness of how God might use your uniqueness today.
A habit that anchors identity — not by asking, but by remembering.
