God's Timing, Date Farms, and Jesus!
May 04, 2026
If you’ve ever driven through date farms in the Coachella area of Southern California... you know.
Endless rows of palm trees—tall, steady, almost regal—reaching up into the sunshine. Loaded with ripe sweet fruit!
I had a friend whose mom used to say,
“When God created the world, He used palm trees to paint everything... and then just stuck them in the ground when He was done.”
And honestly? That’s exactly what they look like. Like brushstrokes across the sky. But palms that produce dates? Even better. Because I love dates.
Last fall, I got to spend time recording videos for my new Bible study on Deborah: Not One Moment Late: Trusting God's Timing For Your Life.
And Deborah? She’s incredible.
Wife.
Prophet.
Military leader.
And where did she lead? Under the palms. She would sit and hold court under what Scripture calls the Palm of Deborah—a place where people came for wisdom, direction, and leadership. That was some of the preparation God used in her life for 20 years before calling her into action to free God's people.
I feel like I’ve been sitting with her for the last year—writing, studying, learning. And one thing has stood out over and over again: Deborah knew how to move in step with God’s timing. She learned how to wait on God. She learned when to boldly take action.
Because if you’re anything like me...You either feel like God is moving too slow or you feel like you’re trying to catch up to Him.
There is this constant tension:
Should I wait?
Should I move?
Am I behind?
Am I early?
And it can feel exhausting trying to figure out
how to stay in step with God. But Deborah’s story reminds us how to trust God's timing: When the moment came—she knew it.
Not yesterday.
Not tomorrow.
This day.
Because God’s timing isn’t random. It’s intentional. t’s precise. And it’s already in motion ahead of you.
Tomorrow is the big day! This new Bible study that I am SO EXCITED about is released! 🎉
