Daughter Dates, Movie Screenings, and Jesus

Some of the sweetest moments with our kids aren’t planned—they’re received. An invitation. A shared experience. A memory you don’t know is being made until you’re already inside it.

Recently, my daughter Zoe and I found ourselves standing in line together, waiting to be let into a movie screening. Not rushing. Not multitasking. Just side by side—talking, laughing, soaking in a moment that did my Mama heart good.

We were invited to a screening of I Can Only Imagine 2—and truly, it’s excellent. Go see it. But what struck me most wasn’t just the film (though it’s powerful). It was the togetherness.

We sat in an auditorium listening to leaders from Lionsgate, and we had the chance to meet the producer, Cindy Bond—who is every bit as gracious and inspiring as you’d hope.

As I watched Zoe take it all in, I was reminded that faith is often formed in shared experiences. In conversations on the way home. In stories that stir courage. In moments where God feels near—not loud, not flashy—just present.

Jesus meets us in these in-between spaces. In daughter dates. In art and storytelling. In memories that quietly shape who we are becoming.

This verse matters this week because faith is meant to be passed along—not forced, not scripted, but shared through story, presence, and love.

This Week’s Faith Habit

Schedule a sacred moment.

This week, intentionally plan a simple one-on-one moment with someone you love—a child, a parent, a friend.
Coffee. A walk. A movie. A meal.

No agenda. Just presence.

This habit forms faith by teaching us that discipleship often looks like showing up, listening well, and letting God work through relationship.

May Jesus meet you in shared laughter and quiet conversations.
May your relationships become holy ground.
And may the stories you live and tell
point the next generation
to a faithful, present God.
